Creative thinking and problem-solving have always been among my strongest skills. From
competing in Odyssey of the Mind during my school days to my professional career implementing mission-critical financial software for Fortune 500 companies, I have consistently been called upon to solve complex challenges, and have delivered successful results.
Independence Local Schools face evolving challenges that require not only sound judgment but also a calm, analytical approach. Level-headed decision-making and a commitment to thoughtful problem solving can turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and long-term success for students and the community.
Fiscal responsibility is essential to the long-term success of our schools and our community. Drawing on my experience as a Managing Partner in my career and Treasurer for two Independence non-profit organizations as a volunteer, I understand that responsible financial management means more than tracking numbers. It means asking
“why,” identifying opportunities, and addressing challenges proactively.
I recognize the importance of balancing the needs of our students and faculty with the responsibility to our taxpayers. Our schools are one of our community’s greatest investments, and that requires both maintaining what we have today and planning thoughtfully for the future.
Independence has long been recognized as a high-performing school district, but in recent
years, some key ratings have dipped below the level our community expects. I believe recent changes in leadership and curriculum are moving us in the right direction, and I am committed to helping that progress continue.
Achieving true excellence requires more than high expectations. Excellence demands thoughtful problem solving, analytical decision-making, and strong community partnerships. By
fostering these qualities, we can guide our schools toward sustained excellence, ensuring every student builds a strong educational foundation and has the opportunity to thrive, both in the classroom and beyond.
